Safety and Efficiency, Brick by Brick

Wellbeing and Efficiency, Brick by Brick Wellbeing and Efficiency, Brick by Brick Wellbeing and Efficiency, Brick by Brick These days, with the exceptionally quick pace of development that has become the standard, it can frequently appear like structures are made for the time being. Be that as it may, the fact of the matter is far various. Extended periods of work for development groups can be overwhelming, perilous, and exorbitant. Enter Construction Robotics of Victor, NY. The organization has built up a mechanical workmanship framework named SAM100 (Semi-Automated Mason) that has been utilized to manufacture everything from supermarkets to high rises. Scott Peters, CEO and prime supporter of the organization, says the framework is exact and simple enough to utilize that artisans can be instructed how to adjust it in only five minutes. However, productivity is the thing that separates SAM. It actually can lay the measure of blocks in a single hour that can take a bricklayer an entire day, Peters says. Be that as it may, there are impediments to what sort of structure it can make. For a structure with longer dividers that are straight, its incredible, he says. Yet, when you have a ton of turns, a ton of alters of course, that is not what this is by and by for. For You: Robotic Lifeguard Changes Water Rescues For some activities that are increasingly clear, its genuinely assisting with changing the manner in which structures can be made. Scott Peters, fellow benefactor, Construction Robotics The SAM100 bricklaying robot assembles dividers multiple times quicker than a human. Picture: Construction Robotics SAM100 started with the companys prime supporter Nate Podkaminer, who went through over 50 years in business development, moving toward Peters about what he felt was a wastefulness in the market. He said this industry somehow or another is in reverse and that stone work, here and there, was a piece of that, he says. [We thought]: Youre taking individual units and drearily putting them on a divider to set up a facade. Couldnt apply autonomy do a portion of this? The key pieces of SAM100 incorporate a mechanized carriage that movements along a platform. It has a pole climbing work stage, a major extension suspended on the pole, and it moves up the pole, with dealing with the side of a business building, says Peters, who was beforehand a senior procedure engineer for General Motors. Its intended to chip away at a track framework darted to the pole climbers. In that association there are security highlights, however [it has] a track area and an augmentation of a deck and SAM is independent on that deck. Furthermore, it goes to and fro on the track framework. A carriage rides with the tracks and we have story posts, which is the way the artisans set the course. SAM additionally has a laser framework that naturally climbs the shaft, with the laser box on the unit consequently looking and discovering tabs or markers. It destroys the divider like a smooth out would, he says. SAM itself is an independent unit set on the framework and on there we have a moving porch and a generator so its self-fueled. And afterward you have an electrical bureau for parts. We additionally have mortar blending and an isolating unit. There is likewise a zone where blocks are stacked in mass and the transport puts them with SAM. There are a few chutes where we can physically stack in blocks and programming. The framework will say we need an uncommonly secured block or possibly an exceptionally cut block and burden it into chute one or chute two. A gripper comes to over and gets every block, to which it applies mortar. At that point it places it on the divider. At the point when its set, the laser framework converses with it and decides its situation in space and revises for that position and places it where its expected to go, he says. So far the reaction has been certain with many promoting SAMs wellbeing and proficiency. Those corners stay a test, be that as it may. The framework may not manage numerous corners, Peters says. However, for some undertakings that are increasingly clear, its genuinely assisting with changing the manner in which structures can be made. Eric Butterman is a free essayist. How to solve silent problems Dont avoid conflict; solve it

The most effective method to take care of quiet issues Don't stay away from struggle; tackle it The most effective method to take care of quiet issues Don't stay away from struggle; tackle it It's unimaginable the amount you don't think about the game you've been playing for your entire life. - Mickey MantleThe most significant job of a pioneer is to confront reality.Understanding what lies ahead is basic to settling on the correct choices. Tolerating reality requires to stay open to new data - particularly the one that challenges what we know for sure.Avoidance doesn't cause issues to disappear - glossing over reality just exacerbates them. Shockingly, denying the truth is the primary explanation CEOs get terminated. A group can just take care of the issues they talk about.Denial Is dangerousThe soundness of an association is estimated by the slack time between when you feel it and examine it. - Joseph GrennyFreud alluded to refusal as the condition of knowing yet not knowing.I see this all when training groups - individuals recognize what's up at their association yet they go about as though they didn't. Dread and absence of help have turned everybody quiet - instead of making some noise; they work in denial.Defense components assist us with enduring misfortunes or sensational news. We deny something horrendous happened on the grounds that we can't acknowledge it to be valid. In the event that information is demonstrating our business is having issues, we will in general accept the data is erroneous - we are not off-base, the information is.Denial encourages us adapt to despondency. In any case, when we can't move past disavowal, we become ignorant.Overconfidence and adhering to what in particular used to work fuel forswearing. When a group has tackled an issue more than once, they quit searching for better approaches to illuminate it. Acting trying to claim ignorance is the reason most CEOs lose their positions they neglect to manage the real factors of progress, failing to meet expectations workers, clients' needs and reality itself. Why CEOs Get Fired, by Mark MurphyThere's an a lot more serious issue than CEOs acting willfully ignorant: When th eir groups follow a similar example. Quieting issues become some portion of the culture.Operating trying to claim ignorance is definitely not a coincidental, yet an example that creates through time as Richard Tedlow, clarifies in his book Denial: Why Business Leaders Fail to Look Facts in the Face. The Harvard educator accepts that refusal is the significant motivation behind why most organizations vanish. He gives the case of how the 'extraordinary' staple chain AP was sunk by officials who praised just the insights they loved. Or on the other hand what number of battling, however regarded, organizations erect landmarks to themselves (like the Sears Tower) rather than handling their genuine challenges.Does your association quietness problems?Denial goes connected at the hip with present moment and autopilot thinking - we decide to dispose of issues instead of tending to the root cause. When the genuine issues become quiet, associations end tackling an inappropriate ones. Is refusal endemic to your organization? Utilize this agenda to evaluate how your group works. Are individuals overlooked or quieted when they make some noise? Do a large portion of your colleagues remain calm during gatherings? Do they concur too without any problem? Are water cooler discussions vivified distinctly until the chief appears? Are clashes stayed away from? Does your organization advance quietness over intense discussions? Does your association like to celebrate past victories however neglect to address the new reality? Do your colleagues accuse different divisions or outer components when things turn out badly? Do you will in general gloss over awful news or issues as opposed to going up against reality with no guarantees? On the off chance that you addressed 'yes' to at least two, your organization may be quieting problems.A group can just explain what they talk about. Tedlow recommends that an opportunity to manage disavowal is at the present time. The sooner you address quiet issues, the better. He suggests isolating unshakable truth from the encompassing murkiness of presumption. That is the thing that Jim Burke, CEO of Johnson, prevailing with regards to doing when Tylenol was strangely harmed in 1982.Here's the means by which to begin tending to quiet issues: Name the issue: you can just unravel what it's made unequivocal. Offer the obligation: when everybody is similarly responsible for taking care of an issue, there's no space for fault. Destigmatize issues: most associations partner issues with shortcomings. Be that as it may, forswearing is the genuine indication of being frail - issues are chances to improve your game. Make a culture of critical thinking instead of shirking. Advance solid clashes: pressures keep groups at the head of their game. Positive grinding makes vitality that pushes groups forward. Challenge oblivious obedience: effective groups profit by having a contentious third party. Advance decent variety of reasoning, turn jobs, tune in to the intensity of calm individuals - everybody is a sensor that can distinguish the two dangers and openings. The most effective method to understand quiet problemsAvoidance is normally established in an organization's way of life - to make quiet issues express; you should energize open discourse and solid debates.1. Advance mental safety:Fear brings the most noticeably terrible out of a group. Individuals abstain from talking about the glaring issue at hand since they fear being scorned, censured or rebuffed. Giving a sheltered space is the establishment to fabricate open dialogue.Safe doesn't mean being defensive; it's giving the correct conditions to individuals to carry on as grown-ups. Let them name the genuine issue, address it, and understand it - expel the dread of being terminated for talking up.2. Lead with questions:Leaders like to be directly than to recognize they don't have the foggiest idea. The compelling fall since they deny the new real factors - most associations rather stick to what in particular worked in the past that to concede they don't have an answer.Let go of compu lsiveness and advance a culture of interest. In a relentless and eccentric world, posing the correct inquiries is the thing that issues the most. Nobody knows without a doubt what will work tomorrow. If I leave the organization, what might you like the new CEO to change? How might we play better? versus What's driving our success?Lead with questions, not with immaculate answers. Urge your group to challenge your reasoning - achievement requires not taking anything for granted.3. Energize consistent feedback:The more you keep away from issues, the more regrettable. Envision the snowballing impact - it's simpler to address little issues before they escape hands. Numerous organizations continue hushing their issues since they fear confronting them. In any case, delaying that discussion just makes things worse.By empowering progressing criticism, individuals feel great talking about issues as they emerge - it's simpler to make some noise about little issues than entangled ones. Criticism is a blessing - making it an ordinary practice transforms an evasion culture into one of dialogue.4. Praise botches, not simply wins:There's nothing amiss with commending wins. Yet, while recognizing the incredible stuff is the main thing that is tended to freely, indivi duals will in general stow away the not very great news.Celebrating botches isn't stating that blunders are alright - the exercise tallies. Mix-ups are a necessary stop, not the last goal - they are important for learning and experimentation. Hold onto them as a feature of the development journey.5. Transform naming issues into a habit:You can't bear to deny refusal - become alright with tending to it. Make normal spaces to urge individuals to discuss quiet issues. Here are a few viable approaches to get started.Mindset Check-in: a purposeful practice to make group mindfulness toward the start of ordinary gatherings. Client Development Hot Tip From A Former Campaign Manager

Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers Client Development: Hot tip from a former campaign manager I’ve coached several lawyers who at one time or another had to raise money. One of those lawyers is Richard Mancini, a Henderson Franklin, trusts and estates litigation lawyer in the firm’s Bonita Springs, FL office. In our last coaching session, Richard and I talked about “asking for business.” I was always uncomfortable asking until I read a SPIN Selling, a book written by Neil Rackham. If you are a long time reader, you might recall I included it in My 6 Favorite Books on Selling. If you want to read a quick summary, check out  SPIN Selling:  Stop Fumbling & Start Making  Sales As you might recall, SPIN stands for Situation, Problem, Implication, Need. Once you ask questions to determine those things, you are in a position to ask the potential client if you can help him or her. Richard told me a story about working on a political campaign while in college, and I’ve asked him to share it with you. When I was a University of South Florida student, I got involved with local politics.   I took classes on campaign management and was hired on to manage a local school board candidate’s campaign. Everyone said that a first time candidate and a first time campaign manager had no chance of unseating a longtime incumbent.     They were wrong!   We made some local history when my candidate won. One campaign management training sessions was how to get folks to make campaign donations.   The instructor, a longtime political junky, went through a litany of tried and true political campaign tools, including the direct mail solicitation, the open house at a friend’s house, and others. But, he said there was one and only one real way to get donations to your campaign.   That one way was to ASK!   Asking in a direct mail piece is OK. Asking in an email is OK.   Asking over the telephone is OK. But asking in person is the best and most effective way. The session went on for about an hour, with specific techniques and examples of campaign materials.   Finally, a hand went up in the back of the room. One of the other trainees stood up, looked at the instructor and said “I am working for candidate X, can you make a donation to his campaign?”   The instructor smiled, reached in his pocket and pulled out a $100 bill and handed it to the novice campaign worker.   He said he had been waiting for someone to ask. It was that simple.   Just ask. I never forgot that simple but very important lesson. My trust, probate and guardianship litigation practice, demands that I attract new clients. So, I worked on it throughout my 15-year career. I’ve hosted receptions, my firm has sponsored events. I’ve given presentations. All of these efforts have been beneficial, but the best and most effective way I’ve attracted new clients or gotten new referrals is to ASK! Asking in an email is OK.   Asking over the telephone is OK. But, asking in person is the best and most effective way. Cordell asked me to share my advice. It’s really pretty simple: Get up from your computer, meet the referral source or potential client in person, explain your practice, your experience, the qualities of your firm. But, remember one more thing, before you leave the meeting, ASK! Darn good advice. Bottom line: There comes a time when you want to ASK and best to do it in person. I practiced law for 37 years developing a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the US.

Having composed and investigated a great many resumes (more than 10,000 now!), I am as yet flabbergasted by what number of normal mistakes are made on resumes and introductory letters â€" the sorts of blunders that will quickly send your resume to the trashcan. Here are a few hints: Opening Paragraph A decent method to enable the peruser to comprehend the distinction among obligations and accomplishments is to isolate the data into a visual cue and passage style. The passage part should come straightforwardly under the titles of your positions. The passage should comprise of 5-6 lines of data that give a concise comprehension of what you do; and for littler organizations, I suggest including something about the business so the peruser gains data about the idea of the organization and industry. Visual cues After you draft your passage, you ought to have key accomplishments â€" these are the projectiles. The peruser will be attracted to this data where you will give instances of the work finished and the result. Where conceivable, ensure that there are measurements to help your work. I don't prompt a slug that is longer than three lines. On the off chance that it is understanding that long, consider a sub slug to discuss the task in further detail. For every fundamental slug, I suggest two sub projectiles so the data looks total. Size Matters Try not to attempt to pack the entirety of your data onto one page. In the event that you have enough substance for a 1.5-or 2-page report, pull out all the stops. There is nothing more regrettable than attempting to peruse a resume as though you are perusing the fine print on a sweepstakes. You need to connect with the peruser, not send them to a Duane Reade for understanding glasses. In the event that the textual style is excessively little, your resume will rapidly advance toward the 'No' heap. Organizing Fiasco The overabundant utilization of organizing won't score you any focuses. You need the resume to be stylishly satisfying and simple to peruse. I comprehend you need to ensure you stick out; in any case, setting up your resume with a ton of excitement (otherwise known as underline, striking, italics) is diverting. The resume ought to be proficient and not excessively occupied. Conflicting Use Of Punctuation To have a sequential comma or not, that is the issue. On the off chance that you use it, ensure you use it all over the place. Consistency is top dog (or sovereign, all things considered) on your resume. Utilizing periods at the finishes of your shots? Fine. Be that as it may, they should be all over. Same principles apply for numbers. Ensure that you present them in a steady way. My general dependable guideline is to work out numbers under 10; for numbers more than 10, I utilize the numeric proportionate. Benefiting from Capitalization Formal people, places or things ought to be promoted. That is all. Widows And Orphans In the event that you have single word on a line without anyone else change it so it is on one line in particular or include extra words so it expands onto the subsequent line. It looks odd to have just single word on a line. I Repeat Myself Under Stress; I Repeat Myself Under Stress Dreary word use in your resume is BORING. Get a thesaurus or go on the web and pick various words that mean something very similar. Select action words that are energizing and permit your crowd to figure out how fascinating and convincing you are as an applicant. Speilling (Sp) Errors Nothing shouts thoughtless like spelling mistakes. Spell check isn't sufficient. Check your work and twofold check it. American Employees at Work Waste 2 Hrs $153 a Day - Workology

American Employees at Work Waste 2 Hrs $153 a Day Employee Productivity at Work is a Employer Cause for Concern   Every year during March madness, the news turns to the discussion of workplace productivity.  Because basketball games are played at least in the early rounds during the workday, time is spent by employees discussing the game or watching during working hours.  Technology whether its via our personal mobile devices or company computers that stream the internet, employees find a way.  A recent study by American Online and Survey.com finds that workers arent so productive at work.  Shocking, I know.  Americans are spending over 2 hours a day being unproductive at work.  Some findings from this study and inforgraphic included in this post below: Older workers are more productive than their younger counter parts. Missouri is the most unproductive state with an average of  3.2 hours of unproductive work time costing $28.1 billion. Personal Internet use at work is the most unproductive work activity. Younger workers born between 1980 and 1985 were the least productive wasting 1.96 hours per day.  These are also in most cases the lowest paid workers, and I believe there is likely some correlation to this. Job surfing at work accounted for the 10th most unproductive activity. Tony Schwartz calls the belief that employees will maintain productivity at work throughout their work day, the Myth of Productivity.  He believes the best way for employees to be productive at work is through working in 90 minute blocks with scheduled rest happening in between.  This allows workers and those completing a task to truly focus making them more productive and less likely to stray surfing the net or gossiping with co-workers. Should We Increase Employee Productivity or Find a Different POV? Ive often challenged the idea of what work productivity really means managing my teams in favor of programs like ROWE where work productivity isnt an issue under the model of a  results oriented work environment.  Whats your idea of a productive work environment and how to combat the issue of  unproductivity  at your workplace?

Personal statement examples by Michael Cheary OK, so putting a personal statement together is never easy…But even if you’ve written one before, how you write a personal statement will always depend on your current situation. In other words, what you write as a school leaver will look a lot different to someone who has many years of previous work experience. To help you find the right one for you, here are some real personal statement examples â€" and how you can use them to make your CV stand out:Free CV Template Free CV Template Email address: Please enter a valid email addressmessage here By clicking Submit, you accept our Terms & Conditions and consent to receive emails and career related topics. See our Privacy policy for details. Continue without submitting Download Free CV TemplateUniversity personal statement  First things first: personal statements aren’t just for your CV.They’re also a key part of the UCAS application process, and a way to sell yourself to prospective universities. However, they will be much more detailed â€" and longer â€" than the one you write for a job application. We’ve covered everything you need to know about personal statements for university here.School leaver personal statement exampleAll personal statements should be tailored to the role in question. No exceptions.Start by answering the following three questions: Why do you want to work in this industry? What skills make you right for the role (hint: use the job description)? And where do you want to go in your career? However, school leavers should always focus on the latter and what you can bring to the business, as we ll as focusing on the knowledge and skills gained through education, rather than employment history. Soft skills are also a great place to start.Example:A highly motivated and hardworking individual, who has recently completed their A-Levels, achieving excellent grades in both Maths and Science. Seeking an apprenticeship in the engineering industry to build upon a keen scientific interest and start a career as a maintenance engineer. Eventual career goal is to become a fully-qualified and experienced maintenance or electrical engineer, with the longer-term aspiration of moving into project management.School leaver CV templateGraduate personal statement exampleSimilar to a school leaver personal statement, but with extra attention paid to specific things youve studied during  higher education.Once again, try and explain why you’re applying and where you’d like to go in your career, as well as the specific skills or knowledge you can offer. But try and drop in a few more details o n your degree (projected grades are fine), as well as particular modules that have inspired you to work in this profession if possible. And remember: a personal statement written for a CV differs greatly from one written for a university application. If you haven’t written one before, you should start by reading our tips on how to write a personal statement.Example:A recent  business economics graduate with a 2:1 honours degree from the University of X, looking to secure a Graduate Commercial Analyst position to use and further develop my analytical skills and knowledge in a practical and fast-paced environment. My career goal is to assume a role which allows me to take responsibility for the analysis and interpretation of commercial data for a well-respected and market-leading leading company.Graduate CV templateUnemployed/redundancy personal statement exampleDealing with redundancy is never easy. But when dealt with in the right way, it needn’t be a hindrance when making appli cations.Put the main focus on your employment history, and provide further information for your break in your cover letter. You dont even necessarily need to mention it again, if youve already explained it elsewhere.Remember, your personal statement is intended to sell yourself. So emphasise your positives rather than apologising for a negative.Example: Driven Retail Manager with over ten years’ experience in the fashion industry. Proven track record of success, including managing the top performing store in the region, and having the lowest staff turnover rate of all UK outlets. Currently out of work due to company closure, looking for the right opportunity to bring my expertise to a well-established fashion brand in an upper management position. How to: Deal with redundancyRedundancy CV templateCareer break personal statement exampleThere are many good reasons someone may need to take  a career break. Some possible examples could include parental leave, caring for a family member, plans to travel or long-term illness. However, whatever the reason for your own break, its never something you should feel the need to justify to a prospective employer. In fact, knowing how to explain a gap  in your CV is mostly about confidence.  So  leave any extra explanation for your cover letter and focus your personal statement on your career before the  break   and any skills learned during your time off which may be applicable to the role.Example:A highly motivated and experienced PA, currently looking to resume my professional career after dedicating the last five years to raising a family. Excellent admin skills, thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, as well as proficiency in minute-taking and extensive experience liaising with clients. After volunteering for one day a week with a local charity to refresh my skills, now fully committed to continuing my career on a full-time basis.Career  break CV templateCareer change personal statement exampleIf you’re c hanging industry completely, think about any  transferable skills and applicable to the sector you’re moving into.Any numbers you can give to demonstrate your success could be crucial even if you’re moving into an area where your expertise may seem slightly different. So always aim to back up your claims with real examples.Focus on one or two achievements, demonstrate the impact they had, and  youll instantly start adding value to your application.Example:As an experienced sales manager, my tenacious and proactive approach resulted in numerous important contract wins. My excellent networking skills have provided my team with vital client leads, and my ability to develop client relationships has resulted in an 18% increase in business renewals for my current organisation. After eight years in sales, currently seeking a new challenge which will utilise my meticulous attention to detail, and friendly, professional manner.Changing careers: What you need to know  Career change CV te mplateFinal thoughtsIf you’re still not sure of what to write, don’t panic.Crafting a winning personal statement will take time, especially if you havent written one before. Use these examples as a loose structure to follow, and youll be able to add to them as your experience grows. And remember: you should always aim to edit your personal statement for each role you apply for. That way, you can ensure youre really selling yourself to their role, rather than simply sending the same generic statement for each application. It should only take a few more minutes to complete. Just the Intern

Simply the Intern Simply the Intern This is a visitor post by Suzanne De Vita for Student Stories. If you don't mind ponder your temporary job understanding. These guidelines followed a considerable lot of endless supply of a temporary position for scholarly credit very natural words inciting you to depict the exercises you learned while interning. (I composed a somewhat long exposition on figuring out how to dress suitably for an office domain. Extremely significant stuff.) While there's absolutely an incentive in those exercises mastered- showing up later than expected to work is commonly not an acknowledged practice-they likewise could have been educated at any first-time gig. What did filling in as an assistant truly instruct me? I got my first temporary job in the advertising branch of a non-benefit association close to my school. I was astounded at how simple it was there was no exhausting meeting process, no reference checks, no nervousness holding back to hear back. Those the sum total of what ought to have been warnings, however being unpracticed in the mind boggling universe of temporary positions, I cheerfully acknowledged. I showed up on my first day with the most elevated expectations. I imagined composing each day, eating with my new associates, having an effect so totally astonishing that the executives would simply need to recruit me. Actually, I went through five months doing scut work, the friendly term used to depict regularly dreary assignments that are important to keep a business running easily. My scut work comprised of poring over pages and pages of ecological enactment in order to certainty check public statements. I was contributing, yet scarcely in the manner in which I had envisioned. The fact of the matter was, I saw various chances to take on increasingly troublesome work. I perceived a few zones of the association that required consideration, extends that I could without a doubt oversee all alone. My administrator was accommodating enough, and she gave me no sign that my thoughts were unwanted. So for what reason didn't I seek after those chances? For what reason didn't I offer to take on more duties? For what reason didn't I simply inquire? Something halted me. I'm just an understudy, I thought. What worth could my thoughts perhaps have? Nobody will pay attention to me. I'll simply sit tight for her to ask me. The dread of sticking out, of being killed, of trying and coming up short, kept me bound to my work area for the length of the temporary position. My third entry level position was in advertising at a local magazine distributer. I was accused of obligations somewhat higher on the range than snort work, yet at the same time felt I wasn't making advantageous commitments. Very quickly subsequent to beginning, I felt that natural self-question that tormented me during my first go-around. I shrank into my corner desk area, escaping my colleagues, keeping my nose the grindstone. By and by, I saw chances to search out more work. Furthermore, by and by, I hushed my musings, persuading myself that if my directors needed me to accomplish more, they would inquire. I permitted self-uncertainty to sneak in and make itself at home for those three months, as well. This time, there was aftermath past the expert misfortunes I encountered in my first temporary job. By not having the fortitude to move toward my administrators, I shut myself off from other social collaborations, also. Who realizes what prospects I may have accidentally restricted myself to just in light of the fact that I was reluctant to have a voice. It would be ideal if you consider your entry level position understanding. I'd prefer to change my reaction. I've had a considerable amount of extended periods, small scale overseeing directors and unpleasant errands all deterrents with their own takeaways. However, the most testing snag, I found, was myself. My exercise learned isn't to get along with others or take analysis well. It's not to remain sorted out, comply with time constraints or wear dark pants. It's to be excessively certain. Stop making light of your capacities. Have the nerve to follow what you need. Shout out! Remain confident. Know your value. Invest heavily in the work you produce, regardless of how humble. Stop re-thinking your considerations. Have faith in yourself. Furthermore, never excuse yourself as simply the assistant. About the Author: Suzanne De Vita is an online editorial manager and substance maker. High School Resume Example Tips

High School Resume Example TipsIt's so easy to get lost in the vast number of resume examples that are available. Some of them are nearly identical to others, and some of them give you tips on how to write a resume that will look good when you get it printed. So what can you expect from a high school resume example? To begin with, a good high school resume example will provide you with a structure. Your application will be broken down into sections like the work experience, education, and character section. Each of these sections will have an associated weight. The more time and effort you put into each section, the higher your chance of being awarded a spot at the top of the pile.On the other hand, there is a downside to having your high school resume example provide you with a structure. As tempting as it is to keep writing your resume in chronological order, this is not recommended. Writing your resume the 'old-fashioned' way will only lead to confusion as you try to follow the job description. In addition, your high school resume example may tell you that a certain number of columns is required, but doing so will make it too difficult to keep your head straight when it comes to writing the resume.A high school resume example will also tell you that you should fill out your information chronologically. Some people will take this advice and still start to fill out their resumes in order from the top of the pile to the bottom. This is fine if you have the time and the inclination to do so. However, most employers prefer to receive resumes in the order they were received, which means that if you start filling out your resume in the order you receive it, then your chances of being contacted by the recruiter for that position will be much less than if you simply start with the position you want and go from there. You can improve your chances of being called for an interview by filling out your high school resume example in order from the highest position to the low est. If you're applying for the position of communications director, begin by filling out the education section first. Then move on to the work experience section and finish up the resume with the character section. The kind of organization that you use to organize your high school resume example will also make a difference in how well you turn in a presentation. Do you work best in a spread sheet or will you be more comfortable using a hand-held electronic calculator? Organizing your resume according to the content that you choose and the format that you prefer will make a huge difference in how well you manage to present yourself. One last thing that you should remember about your high school resume example is that it will be dated. Just like the actual school where you studied, most companies today will require the resume to be electronically formatted, which means that you can not rely on the digital resume examples available in print form to 'forget' that you've graduated. Theref ore, be sure to make sure that your resume matches the requirements of the company.By following these tips and pointers, you should be able to get your high school resume example to stand out. When all of these factors are combined, you will be a highly qualified candidate for that job that you've been dreaming of getting. Remember that your success with your resume is directly related to the organization and format that you choose.

Working at a Startup After The Army Was My Best Career Move Heres Why

Working at a Startup After The Army Was My Best Career Move â€" Here's Why Veterans and the individuals who love them make no deficiency of penances in the interest of this nation. Yet, one penance that is maybe not as promptly recognized is the deterrents the two veterans and military life partners can confront when working out their vocations in the regular citizen domain. That is the reason Fairygodboss asked people in the veteran and military family network to share the manners in which this personality has supported and on occasion obstructed them expertly, just as their No. 1 suggestions to individual military network jobseekers.- - Who: Nina SemczukWhat: Head of SEO Content, FairygodbossWhere: New York, NY- - How long have you been in your present job, and what were you doing previously?Six months; before Fairygodboss, I was an author and editorial manager at SmartAsset, an individual money startup. Prior to that, I worked at The Muse, another vocation site. That was my first occupation subsequent to filling in as a knowledge official in the Army for around five years. What factors were generally essential to you in progressing from a military to non military personnel work? Are there any difficulties related with that progress that individuals may not know of?I needed to work some place less burdened by formality. That implied not at all like a large number of my companions, who were leaving the Army for government employments or jobs in enormous organizations, I looked for positions in startups. The hardest piece of the progress, for me, was that my military experience didn't make an interpretation of well to the vocation I needed (composing). I needed to take a temporary job (and a colossal compensation cut) at 26 in the wake of having had duty regarding 100 warriors and a huge number of dollars of gear. I realized I required industry experience for composing, and was thankful for the activity, yet I felt a little tragic that the administration and hierarchical information and aptitudes I had learned went to squander in light of the fact that I wasnt in the situation to execute those kinds of things. The test for me is my never-ending battle to have tolerance. It requires some investment to do a profession 180!What did your organization never really facilitate the progress, and how have you felt upheld functioning there? My first organization after the Army was a warm, strong, yet high-paced startup. It was the ideal spot for me to land, in light of the fact that the substance we composed and delivered was profession counsel and profitability tips. By working with the substance every day, I figured out how to be a superior interviewee and quest for new employment all the more adequately, and how to utilize LinkedIn and other systems administration instruments furthering my potential benefit. I found out such a great amount about the non military personnel work showcase at that particular employment it was super useful!Do you accept your military foundation has given you any special viewpoints or gifts tha t guide your profession today?Absolutely. At any rate, it helped me relax and acknowledge toward the day's end, the only thing that is important is individuals. A testy, old resigned contractual worker advised me that one day when I was working with my unit right off the bat in my vocation. He saw my disappointment and eagerness mounting, and reminded me, toward the day's end, if no ones dying, youre doing fine and dandy. When youre given so much duty and youre under so much weight so youthful, everything else you do after appears to be significantly less startling. The Army gave me certainty, and advised me that unpredictable issues can be separated into little, significant advances. Likewise, the military is like an enormous company, so I took in the significance of data dissemination, standard working methodology, and proceeded with refinement of processes. And for my present place of employment, SEO, knowledge was really the ideal foundation since its a ton of information mining and following, just as expectations and targeting.Whats the first (as well as last) thing you accomplish at work each day?I normally check for messages on Slack or email, pull up Google Analytics to perceive how our site is performing, and subside into my work area region. Prior to closure my workday, I hope to perceive what number of boxes on my plan for the day I verified, and afterward investigate the errands thatll need to complete tomorrow. What about outside of work how would you most appreciate spending your time?Living in New York is great, since you can get to the mountains and nature in around two hours or less. I attempt to get out and climb or bicycle on the ends of the week, and I likewise appreciate perusing and cooking. During the week, I snatch supper and beverages with companions, see parody, and show yoga just as web based composing classes.Whats the one vocation move youve made that youre most pleased of?Leaving the Army to move to New York to be an author and to w ork in tech was quite testing, yet Im appreciative I made the move each and every day.Whats your #1 recommendation for ladies, and particularly other ladies veterans, who are searching for employments right now?Dont be hesitant to make a stride in reverse to go toward the path you truly need. That retrogressive advance may mean returning to class, or, taking an entry level position or partnership, or taking a bootcamp course. You dont need to hop into a significant level non military personnel profession in an industry youre tepid about except if you completely need the money.I was enticed to take a mid-level administration work at a bank or enterprise, following the way of a considerable lot of my Army pals, since its a simpler change and the cash is acceptable. I knew however, that Id likely get baffled in that sort of condition sooner or later and afterward Id be more established, yet considerably increasingly used to the check and itd be more earnestly to turn to what I at last needed to do.

Transferable Skills That Every Employer Looks For

Transferable Skills That Every Employer Looks For While individual roles each require their own specific skill set, there are certain skills that are attractive to employers across the board. As the name would suggest, ‘transferable skills’ are general skills or abilities that can be used in (or transferred between) various jobs, sectors and departments. Rather than being taught, transferable skills are usually developed through experience; at school, college, home, in your social life and throughout your career. So what are some of the key transferable skills that employers look for and how can you demonstrate that you have them, on your resume and in a job interview? Time management Good time management skills demonstrate that you can work to deadlines and complete tasks in an effective and organised way. No matter what career path you take, being able to manage your time effectively will show that you can do more work in less time â€" something that will be valuable to every employer, for obvious reasons. Closely linked to organisational skills, time management is not something you can learn overnight, but something you will have developed over time; often learning from experiences where you have not done it effectively. If you have successfully met a deadline at school or college, been involved in clubs, societies or volunteering, or held a job alongside your studies while maintaining good grades, you can demonstrate to an employer that you can manage your time effectively.  Communication The majority of jobs require good communication skills â€" and in today’s competitive jobs market, demonstrating that you are an effective communicator (that is, that you have the ability to convey information to others in a clear, direct and unambiguous way) will be highly attractive to employers across the board. Though it is often used to refer to verbal communication, this umbrella term can also relate to written communication, as well as the ability to listen to others, and take their ideas on board. If you have previously worked in any kind of customer-facing role, been involved in group projects, or have been a part of a debating / public speaking society at school or college, you’ll likely have developed good communication skills, which you can reference on your resume.  Research and analysis Most jobs require a basic level of research and analysis â€" and being able to gather, critically evaluate and form a reasoned opinion on information will be valuable to employers in various different industries. As well as proving useful when a specific research project is required, good research and analysis skills will also indicate that you can come up with new ideas and ways of doing things â€" something that will be valuable to any business. The best way to show an employer that you have good research and analytical skills is by referencing a specific project or task you have worked on (whether this be at school or in a previous job), where you were required to use these skills, and achieved a good end result.  Teamwork Regardless of your role, and whether or not it is client-facing, you will need to be able to work well with other employees â€" so demonstrating that you can contribute, listen and thrive within a team will be hugely valuable to employers. Teamwork skills are especially important if you are looking to move into a management role in the long-term â€" as you’ll need to show that you understand the dynamics of working effectively in a team, and supporting others to achieve a good end goal. People who have been involved in team sports possess naturally good teamwork skills â€" so make sure to mention any involvement in sports on your resume. Equally, though, most jobs require some level of teamwork â€" so citing any previous positions you have held, and referencing the times when you were required to work on a project or task within a small team, will show that you are a good team player. Problem-solving Good problem-solving ability is a big plus for employers. It is usually meant to mean taking the initiative, analysing situations, and finding actionable, inventive solutions to them. For employers, possessing good problem-solving skills demonstrates that you can assess situations on your own, predict potential issues and prevent them before they even happen â€" something that will add real value to their business. Plus, finding solutions to problems will often require thinking “outside-of-the-box”, in a creative way â€" another key skill that will be important to employers across the board. You may be able to cite a situation in a previous job where you reacted to an issue in a logical and effective way. Alternatively, you are likely to have developed problem-solving skills when planning an event, writing an analytical essay, or overcoming a tricky situation or dispute in your personal life. Personal development Personal development refers to the ability to evaluate your own performance, recognise your strengths and weaknesses, and formulate a plan to progress and develop. If you can show that you are aware of your own personal development, you’ll be indicating to an employer that you are motivated, self-aware, and that you are dedicated to growing within their business. Rather than being something that you learned at one time or another, personal development is usually a quality you develop through your life; as you face different challenges, and get to know yourself better over time. On your resume or in an interview, you can demonstrate personal development by discussing how you have learned a new skill, or referencing a time when you have been taken outside of your comfort zone, and grew from the experience. As well as those listed above, there are a number of other transferable skills; all of which can be referenced on your resume and in a job interview to make your application more attractive to employers.
